Registrations / Payment

Registration / Payment

To control numbers and ensure the required information is collected, registration for tours and payments will be done through email and interac E-transfer.  Email fungifestival@gmail.com which day and walk you are interested in registering for, your name, phone number, address and email address (I need this for each of the people registering) and I will get back to you with confirmation of your choice and the amount you owe, you can then email the amount owing to the fungifestival@gmail.com account – you will see that it is set up for automatic deposit to Deborah Heap.  Management of numbers is critical this year, so there will be no weekend passes.  Long walks and short walk numbers will be limited to less than 50 participants in total each day.

All Day Guided Mushroom Hunting Tours

All Day Guided Tours are available on Friday Sept 17, Saturday Sept 18, and Sunday Sept 19 during the Fungi Festival weekend.

Tour leaves at 10 am, scheduled to return by 4pm on the Friday and Saturday. The Sunday tour is from 11-3.

Pricing for 2021 is TBD once we have more information about how much we can include in the weekend programming.

Meet at the Legion in Sicamous by 9:30 am for introductions, briefings, round-up, and to finish the registration process.

Transportation TBD

*If you would like to attend that day’s tour but have not yet registered please arrive at the Legion at or just after 9 am, to give you enough time to register.  It is unlikely we will have any available spaces the day of the tour, given the reduced numbers.

Expert Mushroom Guides will lead each tour offering education, advice, identification, answering questions.

You will be able to hunt your own wild mushrooms and have them identified.

TBD whether lunch will be included.

Don’t forget to wear good shoes, bring a  whistle (for forest communication), a basket or paper bag for collecting, and a mushroom knife and brush , if you like (a plastic disposable knife will do, and you won’t be heart-broken to lose it.  And a soft toothbrush works well to remove dirt and debris).  The experts will have books available for sale.

When registering for an All Day Tour we will ask you to advise the guide the level of hiking difficulty you are comfortable with and we will attempt to accommodate everyone within the group.  This information helps organizers to plan the tour.  If you prefer something not too taxing, the walking tour of Sicamous is flat and pleasant.

Sicamous Walking Tours

Sicamous walking Tours are offered on Friday September 18th, Saturday 19th, and Sunday 20th during the Fungi Festival Weekend.

Price TBD per person walking tour 1 pm to 3 pm and access to the legion displays and demonstrations that day.

Meet at 12:45 pm at the Legion for introductions and round-up.

This is primarily an educational tour.

Walk with an expert Mushroom Guide in the Sicamous area from 1pm until 3pm.

Ask questions, learn about mushrooms and the ecology of fungi in our environment.

Walk-Along guests such as local historians and ecologists join to share their knowledge.

Possibly find some wild mushroom specimens to collect.

Presentations and Demonstrations

To access the displays, walk ins will need to sign in and provide contact information, they will then be given a free access blue wrist band which allows them to be in the building until the long walk participants return.  Unfortunately there will not be tickets sold just for the presentations this year.  Presentations will be limited to long and short walk participants to ensure health authority protocols / numbers are observed.  Purchasing a long walk or short walk will give you all day access and all presentations for no extra charge this year.

Cash payments will be accepted at the festival, but register in advance to ensure you have a spot.
