All Day Guided Mushroom Hunting Tours

All Day Guided Tours are available on Friday Sept 20, Saturday Sept 21, and Sunday Sept 22 during the Fungi Festival weekend.

Tour leaves at 10 am, scheduled to return by 4pm on the Friday and Saturday. The Sunday tour is from 11-3 but participants should meet at the legion by 9:30 for pre departure discussions and eggs.

Meet at the Legion in Sicamous by 9:30 am for introductions, review of safety protocols, foray locations and car pooling assignments, roll call, and to finish the registration process (if necessary).

Transportation is by car pool to be arranged by participants before departing.

Expert Mushroom Guides will lead each tour offering education, advice, identification and answering questions you may have.  They will also review safe methods of identifying mushrooms you encounter.

You will be able to hunt your own wild mushrooms and have them identified.

Don’t forget to wear good shoes, bring a  whistle (for forest communication), a basket or paper bag for collecting, and a mushroom knife and brush , if you like (a plastic disposable knife will do, and you won’t be heart-broken to lose it.  A soft toothbrush works well to remove dirt and debris).  The experts will have books available for sale.

When registering for an All Day Tour we will ask you to advise the guide the level of hiking difficulty you are comfortable with and we will attempt to accommodate everyone within the group.  This information helps organizers to plan the tour.  If you prefer something not too taxing, the walking tour of Sicamous is flat and pleasant.

Sicamous Walking Tours

Sicamous walking Tours with expert mushroom guide Paul Kroeger are offered from 1 to 3pm on Friday September 20th, Saturday 21st, and Sunday 22nd during the 2024 Fungi Festival Weekend.

Meet at 12:45 pm at the Legion for introductions and round-up.

This is primarily an educational tour.

Ask questions, learn about mushrooms and the ecology of fungi in our environment.

Walk-Along guests such as local historians and ecologists join to share their knowledge.

Possibly find some wild mushroom specimens to collect.
