Thurs Sept 19th we plan to have our icebreaker from 5 pm on Downstairs in the Legion while awaiting our experts arrival. Cash bar and food available for purchase.

Friday Sept 20, Saturday Sept 21 and Sunday Sept 22 there will be daily long walks, foraging for mushrooms in the area around Sicamous as well as short identification walks with Paul in Sicamous. Long walks require advance registration and are limited to 25 participants. We will have our displays and presentations upstairs in the legion (entrance is at the back of the building) and mushroom soup by donation. The Legion will have music and food downstairs all weekend long. Fungi Art Contest submissions on display Friday afternoon to Saturday afternoon – participant form on registration page.

Friday long walk meets at 9:30am and departs at 10am. You are welcome to come by with your specimens and chat with Paul and Martin after the long walk departs. At 1:00 to 3pm Paul will lead a short walk around town. At 1:30 pm Erik Hrabovsky will host a presentation on Improving ecological health and purifying water with Fungi. Mushroom soup will be served by donation during the day. Paul will do his introductory presentation “A World of Wonder Beneath Your Feet” at 4pm (under 18 admitted free). At 5pm there will be a cash bar and our experts will be hosting a panel to answer any questions you might have regarding edibles or other topics of interest. There will be a market in the legion parking lot from 4 to 7pm with live music by In my Orange Kitchen. The Legion will have a mushroom themed special with a vegetarian option with live music by the popular Blind Bay Blues Band from 8pm till closing.

Saturday long walk meets at 9:30 and departs at 10. Paul, Mitch and Martin will man the displays and answer any of your mushroom questions throughout the day. At 11 Martin will host a presentation on the status of medicinal mushrooms and Q&A. Mushroom soup will be served by donation. At 1:00 Paul and Mitch will lead a short walk around town until 3pm. At 1:30 pm Chelsea Dawn healing through micro dosing. At 3:30 pm Chef Shawna will be hosting a demonstration on preparing mushroom tapas. At 5pm we will have a cash bar along with a discussion panel reviewing the specimens collected that day and any other topics of interest from the audience, followed by Paul’s popular Magic Mushroom Presentation and Q&A at 7pm.

Saturday the inaugural Sicamous Harvest Festival will also be happening at The Hub from 11 to 4 pm. The Legion will be hosting their popular meat draw from 3 to 6pm with regular food service and fabulous open mic music with local musicians.

Sunday we get started at 9:00am with a cooking demonstration of yummy wild mushroom scrambled eggs for the long walk participants. Others are welcome to stick around and have mushroom scrambled eggs by donation once the walkers are done. 10am There will be a panel discussion on edible mushrooms and other topics of interest. The long walk will depart by 11 and Paul and Martin will be available to answer questions throughout the day. Martin will host a presentation on preparing mushrooms for medicine at 11- maximum 20 participants so advance registration required. At 1:00 to 3pm Paul will lead a short walk around town. At 1:30 pm Chelsea Dawn will repeat her presentation on healing through micro dosing. We will have mushroom soup by donation. 3pm the long walk returns and there will be a panel discussion and wrap up. The legion will have the meat draw, food service & live music from 3 to 6pm. Fungi Festival Society AGM will be held at 4pm upstairs at the legion.

Registrations need to be confirmed and contact details provided with Deb before making payment. Payment can then be made via interac email $ transfer to fungifestival@gmail.com. Advance payment is always appreciated for planning purposes and to reduce stress for Deb during the festival, but for everything except the long walks we will accept drop ins and cash payment or e-transfer at check in.
